I'm Chrismarcel James, a Front-End Software Engineer in Lagos, Nigeria with about 4+ years of professional experience working with various web technologies.

I enjoy building responsive and user-friendly interfaces using modern web technologies. I'm proficient in using design tools to design user interfaces and also seamlessly convert designs to pixel-perfect user experiences.

Work Experience

Software Engineer @ HomeVision Inc.

Sep 2020 - Present

At HomeVision, I work on the Core Product team which primarily involves interfacing with the design and product teams to translate product and design requirements into functional, reusable and performant components.

My day to day tools at work here include Typescript, React and Styled Components on the Front-End. Occasionally, I also work with Golang, Buffalo and PostgreSQL for end-to-end full-stack features. Other tools I use include Circle CI, Cypress, React testing library and Jest for unit and E2E testing.

Front-End Engineer @ ColorElephant

Dec 2019 - Aug 2020

At ColorElephant, I worked on setting up, developing and shipping multiple web projects for clients in U.S and Europe. Such projects include Rivella, Coffective, Freshland and Manor World MasterCard. I also collaborated with team mates to build internal tools used within the company.

Some of the tools I used while working here include Node.js, Webpack, Parcel, Gatsby, Typescript, React, SASS, Lottie, Styled Components and Gatsby. I also worked on integrating and customizing 3rd party APIs such as Google Maps and MapBox for geolocation and charting libraries such as Highcharts and Recharts.

Front-End Engineer @ Fiddler A.I.

Jan 2020 - Apr 2020 (Contract)

By brief stint at Fiddler saw me working on improving and optimizing their existing React components to handle rendering of large datasets by profiling and anaylizing the existing React components. I also developed and shipped customized Highcharts charting components for data visualization.

Software Engineer @ Andela

Feb 2019 - Feb 2020

Worked with in-house designers to replicate pixel-perfect, optimized and responsive front-end web pages. Worked with the team that developed Dairynomics - a web app for analyzing costs and revenues of the dairy farmers in Kenya. I also utilized technologies such as Chrome Audit Tools and Page Insight tools to track, identify, report and fix accessibility, security and SEO related issues across various web apps.

Web Developer @ Icojon

Set-up, deployed and managed Icojon (https://icojon.ng), an indigenous bulk purchase grocery e-commerce website

Built a custom in-house library which utilizes Quickbooks API for a seamless invoicing and book-keeping process

Built and integrated custom Wordpress plugins for a tailored and customized user experience.

Responsible for improving the SEO and Search Engine Ranking scores of the website using Google Analytics and PageInsight Tools.
